a Mongolian Taimen / Linda Vining

Done with Paintbook, my finger, and a Pogo stylus. Took about an hour. I was watching a NatGeo program about these enormous trout in Mongolia, and decided to try to sketch one. Watched the video clip over and over online, and froze one very murky frame to get a view of the underwater scape. Chose colors by watching the live broadcast.

I like this. Very painterly. I also like to stop action on films, particulaly costume movies where I like the costumes, like Cocteau's classic film Beauty and the Beast and several Jean Renoir films. As I used Zeus Draw for these, you can see them at flickr.com/photos/fingerpaintings
Hi Troodle and Sean-
Glad you liked my trout. I did try really hard to get the "waterspheric" shading to look convincing. Have some ideas to try next time to see if I can do better.
As for the stylus, I find it helpful mainly when making fine lines or dots. Harder to see around your finger before it's too late. It's also handy when I am first blocking in broad areas of color. I can outline an area fairly accurately, then 2finger tap to fill it.
Love the shading on this. Do you find the stylus helpful?
the best!
