Use the Follow feature to keep track of your favourite artists on PaintBook.ca.

As a followed artist adds new work, your Following page will be updated showing you these new pieces.

To follow an artist, click on their name then click the yellow Follow icon in the title bar.

Saving your work

This page discusses methods for getting your artwork out of your iPhone / iPod touch and onto another system so you can share it and/or print it.

Save to a JPG (image file)

Here's how to get a high res JPG copy of your artwork onto your desktop computer.

  1. Lock (save) your current artwork if necessary.
  2. While viewing the artwork you want to retrieve:
  3. Tap the Action button in the toolbar.
  4. Tap Save to photo album ...
  5. Choose an image size up to 2048 pixels
  6. Tap Save now
  7. Connect your device to iTunes
  8. Sync with iTunes
  9. The image can be retrieved from your photos folder.

High resolution images may look distorted in the photo album viewer on your device. This is a limitation of iPhone OS 2.x.

Save to a PDF (document file)

Here's how to get a PDF document of your artwork onto your desktop computer. You can also email a link to the PDF file -- see below for these instructions.

On your iPhone / iPod touch:

  1. Lock (save) your current artwork if necessary.
  2. While viewing the artwork you want to retrieve:
  3. Tap the Action button in the toolbar.
  4. Tap Save PDF and share online ...
  5. If necessary, complete the PaintBook.ca signup process
  6. To keep your artwork private completely, choose Private.
  7. To share the PDF file with others, choose Original PDF
  8. Choose Stay in PaintBook
  9. Tap Begin page transfer
  10. Wait for the upload to complete.

On your desktop computer:

  1. Access PaintBook.ca with your web browser
  2. Log in, if necessary, using the credentials you used to upload the PDF
  3. Review the artwork shown after you log in, and click on the artwork for which you want the PDF
  4. Click on the PDF file link on the right side of the page.

Email a link to a PDF file

When emailing a link to a PDF file, the PDF file is accessible to anyone who has the secret link that will be placed in the email message. You can even email the link to yourself.

  1. Lock (save) your current artwork if necessary.
  2. While viewing the artwork you want to retrieve:
  3. Tap the Action button in the toolbar.
  4. Tap Save PDF and share online ...
  5. If necessary, complete the PaintBook.ca signup process
  6. Choose privacy settings as you wish; the link is not affected.
  7. Choose Email link to PDF
  8. Tap Begin page transfer
  9. After the upload completes, the email composer appears.
  10. Enter an email address to send the link to.
  11. Edit the email message as you wish, then send it.
