Marking Favourites

If you want to return to an artwork again, click the yellow favourite star in the title bar when viewing it.

All images you have marked as a favourite appear in your Favourites tab for easy retrieval.

Introducing PaintBook Lite

PaintBook uses a simple, intuitive interface towards drawing.

Tap the + icon to add a new page. You can draw on it immediately. Just use your finger!

Drawing

Getting started

Use one finger touch to draw. As you draw, the stroke is smoothed and curves are added where appropriate. If the stroke is in the wrong place or looks wrong, use the undo icon to remove it and try again.

Solid shapes

If the starting point and ending point of a stroke are nearby, the shape will fill in. You have to be fairly close to make this happen. (This is system setting choice. You can turn it off if you wish.)

You can also tap with three fingers at once to change a stroke from filled to open. This makes it easier to create a filled shape. Tap with three fingers again to unfill the shape.

Correcting mistakes

To remove a stroke, tap the undo icon once. The undo icon will also unfill the previous stroke, if it is filled.

Tip: if you see that a stroke is going wrong but you haven't yet lifted your finger, tap with another finger to cancel the current stroke and try again.

Saving your work

Locking the page

When you are done drawing, tap the Lock icon. This locks the page and saves it, and returns you to Browse mode.

Your work is also locked and saved if you exit PaintBook, for example if the phone rings or you wish to check email. You do not have to lock in this case, it happens automatically.

Photo album export

PaintBook Lite allows you to save an image to the photo album at one size, 512 pixels.

To export the image, tap the action icon, and select Snapshot to photo album.

Starting over

PaintBook LE gives you one page to work on at a time.

To erase the page and start over, tap the action icon. Delete page is an option in the choices that appear. You will be asked to confirm your choice!

You cannot undo a page deletion, use this option with care.

Zooming

You can zoom in draw and browse modes. Use two fingers to "move the paper." Put your fingers down on the screen and move them. The paper will follow your fingers, zooming and rotating as you wish.

You can zoom in as far as you want, and zoom out as well.

Got lost?

If you get lost, if you are in draw mode, tap the settings (gear) icon and then tap done -- the view will be reset.

If you get lost in browse mode, exit the app and re-enter.

Unwanted zooming

If you are troubled by unwanted zooming, put your two fingers farther apart at the beginning; this will cause less zoom as you move.
