New Worlds Afoot

I've been working on a few other projects recently, and unfortunately have to move out of my photography studio in the next week or two so have been pressed for time with PaintBook.
This time has been good for PaintBook, as sales are booming and it is becoming quite a popular and well regarded tool for artists and illustrators around the world. Thank you all for your efforts at making PaintBook and PaintBook.ca the success it is!
There will be a PaintBook 3.0, and it will be worth the wait. Features will include a number of things you have been asking for, and some things you haven't known you needed but will be unable to do without once you've got them.
I've also been having a discussion with a well-known organization about how PaintBook might be improved and integrated with their own projects, and if this relationship bears fruit I think we'll all be pleased and amazed with the results.

Discussion Notifications via Email

You can now have email messages sent to you when comments are posted in discussions you have joined, anywhere on the site.
In other words, when you post a comment on someone else's artwork, for example, you can receive an email note that someone else has commented in that discussion too.
To turn on this notification, visit the Notify settings page in the account profile editor. You'll need to verify your email address before messages can be sent, of course!
Site Suggestions Sought

The floor (well, the comments section of this blog post) is open for suggestions on enhancing the PaintBook.ca site. I've got a few things in mind -- perhaps you'll tell me which ones are most important to you. Or if I'm missing something, you can fill me in on what's needed!
- Rating of artwork, e.g. 1-5 stars
- Comment section for users (e.g. a "Wall")
- Private messaging system (e.g. site mail)
- Email notification when any thread you join is added to
- Public forum system not attached to images/users
- Image tagging / keywords
- Choice of creative commons licenses
- Image cataloguing / categories
- Image groups with discussion board
- Print purchasing
Anything else? And how important is it?

Free PaintBook Lite in App Store

The free application PaintBook 2.5 Lite should be available in the App Store shortly -- it has just been approved.
The lite version has all of the functionality of PaintBook except that it does not support multiple pages -- just one at a time; it doesn't support uploads to PaintBook.ca; and it doesn't allow export to the photo album of images larger than 512x512 pixels in size.
It's a good way to get a taste of PaintBook to see if it's really for you!
Email Addresses Lost

A programming error has resulted in the loss of email addresses from several accounts. I'm sorry for the inconvenience, but I do ask affected users to re-enter and re-verify their email addresses.
