Followers

Followers are PaintBook users who like your work and want to always see your latest art.

To see who is following you, visit your Home page and click on the Followed by link -- which only appears if you have followers.

Content Filtering

Posted 2009-May-19

I've added content filtering to the site.

Content filtering is a good thing, not a bad thing, because it allows PaintBook.ca to host more challenging works of art -- e.g. nudity and violence -- without endangering our "family-friendly" site rating.

In short, contributed art will be classified into one of three content ratings by the contributor. Based on rating, that content will be restricted from viewing by certain groups.

Only work-safe art will be shown to casual internet browsers (those without accounts on PaintBook.ca). Moderate content will be shown to anyone who has an account, unless they have chosen to not view that level of content. And Restricted content will only be shown to those account holders who specifically choose to view it.

Please rate your own content accordingly.

Content Rating Levels

Work safe: Imagery and content that is "safe for work." No disturbing imagery, no nudity. G rated. This class of content can be seen by everyone, even site visitors who do not have an account on PaintBook.ca. All content is classified as work-safe until it is flagged or marked as something else.

Moderate: Imagery and content that is "library safe". Content that features artistic nudity and/or moderate violence. PG-13 rated. This class of content can be seen only by site members, although all site members will see it unless their personal content filters are set to Work-Safe.

Restricted: Imagery and content with adult themes. Content that features extensive or graphic nudity and/or extreme violence or disturbing imagery. R-rated. This class of content is only visible by site members who change their personal content filter level to All images.

How to set a content rating

Use the Edit page function and visit the Content tab. Choose the rating that applies and click save.

How to set your viewing preference

Use the Profile editor function and visit the Filter tab. Choose the rating that describes what you wish to see and click save.
